Hello, my name is Michael Layton, or at least I thought it was. Before the ship came, I was just a regular Earthbound guy. Well, as regular as the son of a CEO of a billionaire tech company can get that is. I’m also a proud graduate of MIT and already one year into a bright future of engineering at New Horizons, but all that doesn’t matter after the ship shows up.

There it is for the entire world to see and broadcasting live from every channel––that large hulking black thing hanging in the air. And in that moment of naked truth, all the world finally knows there really is life out there.

If only that was the most astonishing thing I learned. Later that same day, my parents make a startling confession––the ship has come from a far off galaxy called Ethia, and it’s here for me. Now I find myself in an impossible situation with an impossible decision, and all I really know for sure is my life is about to change forever.


Empire's Son is a soft science fiction with some fantasy elements. This story follows the main character as he is catapulted into a life-changing journey that will lead him to new places, people, and incredible discoveries. Empire's Son is the first book into the epic world of the EthiaVerse.
